The 2024 H2GP World Final: Three Days of Thrilling Hydrogen Racing

The 2024 H2GP World Final, hosted by the H2GP Foundation and presented by Toyota Mirai, concluded in Anaheim, California today after three exhilarating days of hydrogen-powered racing. Teams from across the world – including countries as diverse as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany – gathered to showcase their innovation, teamwork, and engineering skills. Each day brought new challenges, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments as the top teams vied for victory.

 

 

Day 1: Stock Race 1 – A Battle for Endurance

The competition kicked off with Stock Race 1, where teams pushed their hydrogen-powered vehicles to the limit, balancing speed and energy management. The race was fierce, and HF Bulgaria emerged as the winner after completing an impressive 1,200 laps. Close behind, Hydroteam secured second place with 1,184 laps, and Team Kia Kaha rounded out the top three with 1,096 laps.

Teams showed incredible strategy and endurance throughout the day, making it clear that this year's World Final was going to be highly competitive. Despite some early technical challenges, the teams' resilience and determination were on full display, promising more exciting races ahead.

 

Stock Race 1 Results:

  • 1. HF Bulgaria – 1,200 laps
  • 2. Hydroteam – 1,184 laps
  • 3. Team Kia Kaha – 1,096 laps
  • 4. Sequoyah 1 – 1,039 laps
  • 5. Faith & Furious – 982 laps
  • 6. Supernovas – 896 laps
  • 7. A Creed For Speed – 866 laps
  • 8. Hydroracers – 830 laps
  • 9. Adlermotors – 825 laps
  • 10. Gas Powered Gladiators – 791 laps

 

Day 2: Stock Race 2 – Narrow Margins and Big Wins

Day 2 brought Stock Race 2, which proved to be just as intense as the first. The race saw even tighter competition, with the German team Die Hydrogenschrauber taking first place after completing 996 laps. Technodome finished in second with 931 laps, and HydroScheppers came in third with 871 laps.

  • 10. SERT Kingaroy – 533 laps

 

Day 3: The Hybrid Race – A Tight Finish

The final day of the 2024 H2GP World Final culminated in the highly anticipated Hybrid race, where the competition reached its peak. The top 10 teams all completed over 1,000 laps, with the top three finishing within just 70 laps of each other. Oakwood Pink emerged victorious with an astounding 1,295 laps, followed closely by Team Bulgaria with 1,256 laps, and RC Racing Hubalov in third with 1,233 laps.

  • 7. Indy 1 – 1,149 laps
  • 8. EGE Hydrofoxes – 1,128 laps
  • 9. Summa Automotive Racing – 1,100 laps
  • 10. HC Verva Racing Team – 1,060 laps

 

Celebrating Innovation and Sustainability

One of the highlights from the 3-day event was a visit from the USC Schwarzenegger Institute, who received a complete model H2 Hummer from a group of students.

The 2024 H2GP World Final was a thrilling showcase of innovation, collaboration, and the bright future of hydrogen technology. The dedication and creativity displayed by the teams were truly inspiring, and their achievements reflect the tremendous potential of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
